Situated in the southwest of Kenya, covering an area of 1,510 square km (583 square miles), the Masai Mara National Reserve is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains.
The reserve is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise, with abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra. Leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhino hide in the dense thickets and large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The park is also home to over 450 bird species.
The quintessential Masai Mara safari delivers many attractions, as the reserve is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game, including the more than two million wildebeest, zebras and other antelopes that make up the famous Great Migration.
Day 1-Diani Aistrip-Masai Mara
Morning pickup at your hotel/cottage and short drive to the airport in Diani. Then fly directly to the Maasai Mara. Your experienced driver will be waiting for you at the runway, greeting you in a friendly manner and stowing away your luggage.
On the way to the lodge you will make your first animal observations in this wildlife-rich ecosystem. Wonderful!
After arriving at Serena Safari Lodge, a good lunch awaits you and you check in. Enjoy your lunch break in this wonderful nature! After teatime there is an afternoon game drive; beautiful encounters in the realm of wild animals await you here!
The cozy evening with excellent dinner, sundowner drinks and stories about the day’s experiences complete the classic safari day!
Day 2- Masai Mara
Today you will spend the whole day with extensive game viewing drives in the morning and afternoon, hunting for the Big Five, migration or all the wildlife native to this area.
The local drivers will be happy to introduce you to the wildlife, landscapes, people and history of the Mara ecosystem! Maybe you will experience the unique experience of the Great Migration? Game drives in this wilderness offer many surprising animal encounters and spectacular natural spectacles.
You return to the lodge for lunch or, if you wish, you can enjoy a picnic along the way.
The very eventful day ends with a drink, dinner and the beautiful ambience of the evening in the Mara. You will experience every moment intensely!
Day 3- Masai Mara
You start the day with an early game drive; breakfast can also be taken with you on the game drive. Later Your guide will take you back to the airstrip.
Here he says goodbye to you and you take the flight back to /Diani/Ukunda to the coast. We will be waiting for you when you arrive and will drive you back to your accommodation.
