Shimba Hills is a tropical rain forest which covers an area of 202 km2. Physical attractions include casuarinas forests, Marere Dam (a water well where come to drink water), Sheldrick Waterfalls. The landscape is grassland. Animals seen in this area include elephants, buffalos, giraffes, impalas, heartbeats, rare leopards, black and white monkeys, attractive sable antelopes, and roan antelopes among others.
Chale Island is a 1.2 kilometers long and 0.8 kilometers wide tropical paradise surrounded by stunning turquoise Indian Ocean and inland mangrove forest lakes subjected to the natural changes of the tides, considered to be one of the most unique treasures.
The ghost city of Gede is one of the sites of great historical interest on the coast and it is still a mystery today what exactly happened to its inhabitants. The excavations have brought porcelain, glassworks and terracotta furnishings to light. These objects are displayed in the museum next to the entrance.
