Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary,
Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy covers an area of 28,000 acres of mosaic habitat where the plant physiognomy is riverine forest, savanna wood and grassland. The vegetation formation is usually dense, stratified and always dominated by Acacia /Commiphora trees and may appear to be evergreen in wet areas such as in the central lowlands of the sanctuary.
The sanctuary is on the Southern side of Tsavo West National Park and serves as a migrating corridor for wildlife between Tsavo East National Park and Tsavo West National Park and making it a highly valued tourism recreational area and of ecological importance.
Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy is home to elephants, lions, cheetah, zebras, giraffes, different types of birds like (ostriches, hornbills, guinea fowls, king fishers, weaver birds etc).

Where to Stay at Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy
Taita Hills Wildlife Conservancy features two lodges, that is Saltlick Safari Lodge and Taita Hills Safari Resort and Spa.
Saltlick Lick Safari Lodge
Located at the heart of private Taita Hills santuary, bordering Tsavo West National park at South Eastern part. Salt Lick safari lodge is a 96 rooms built on two levels roomed elevated on stilts accommodation facility. All the rooms are built facing a waterhole just outside the lodge where wild animals come to quench their thirsty giving all the guests a beautiful scenery view to enjoy while inside. The accommodation rooms have permanent shower en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold water running. The lodge has an underground and bunker with ground level windows which provide a close but safe access to variety of animals while drinking water. The elevated restaurant and terraced bar in the lodge also provide a very better view and photographic site to the guests. The water holes are lightened with powerful flood lights at night which allow guests to have the best views all through the night.
Taita Hills Safari Resort and Spa
Taita Hills Safari Resort and Spa is located at the main entrance to the Sanctuary, The Resort features 60 spacious rooms and two suites, all with their own private viewing balcony. It has a museum that displays some of the World War 1 memorabilia as part of the rich history of Taita Taveta County.
