Unspoiled, beautiful and sun kissed, the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Reserve was established to protect the scenic islands and special habitats of a wide range of endemic marine animals and breeding migratory birds. It lies in the coral gardens south of Wasini Island and encompasses three small coral rag forest islands, each with considerable areas of fringing reef. Kisite is one of the most rewarding snorkelling locations at the coast. Visitors can also enjoy bird watching, diving and of course, sunbathinh.

The marine park is located on the south coast, 40km from Ukunda town in Msambeni District of coast province. The ecosystem covers a marine area with four small islands surrounded by coral-reef. KisiteIsland is covered in low grass and herbs while Mpunguti Islands have dense coastal equatorial forest. Sea grasses Cymodoceaserrulata and Syringodiumisoetifolium cover a large area of the sub-littoral zone of the reef. Marine algae include Padinacommersonii, Dictyotabartayresiana, Bostrychiabinderi, Ulva lactuca, Dictyosphaora sp., Udoteaindica, and Halimedaopuntia. Major attractions include the Dolphins, coral gardens and it is an important site for snorkelling, diving and bird watching. The beautiful sandy beach is good forenviromental friendly recreational activities.
